You’ve gotten used to seeing the Ariel vampire shtick on ECW every week. But as we’ve mentioned before, Shelly Martinez is way more fun to watch in the ring. Whether she wins or loses a match, she knows how to make it exciting and memorable. In fact, even when Shelly loses, you come away feeling like she kicked some serious ass.

You can really tell Shelly Martinez is a pro in this OVW match against Sosay. Watch for the electric chair move about half way through:

So there you have it: 3 crystal clear examples of why the WWE writers need to get Shelly back into the ring. Instead, the powers-that-be at the WWE prefer to have photographers shoot posed photos of her as if she’s a life sized dark and gothic Barbie Doll:

Shelly’s ringside antics and Daily Diva photos are great and all, but her real talent is being wasted at ringside.

The WWE may not make good use of the ladies of Extreme Expose in the ring, but they’ve been giving them plenty of time in front of the camera lately. Check out the WWE site for newly released studio shoots of Barbie Blank (aka Kelly Kelly) and Layla El.

One of the most successful tag teams in history are joining forces to whip the next generation of professional wrestlers into ring-ready condition. ECW alums Brother Ray (Mark Lamonica) and Brother Devon (Devon Hughes) are looking to make a name for themselves in the training business with the brand new Team 3D Academy of Professional Wrestling and Sports Entertainment.

The duo, formerly known as the Dudley Boyz, became known as Team 3D in 2005 when the WWE decided not to renew their contract. The WWE had trademarked the “Dudley” name, and Ray and Devon were legally prohibited from continuing to use the name they had used since 1996.

Team 3D, along with their TNA co-star Matt Bentley, will offer comprehensive wrestling training in a state-of-the-art facility in Kissimmee, FL.

Rebecca DiPietro hasn’t appeared on-air in quite some time, so it’s hardly a shock that the ECW interviewer is moving on from her career with the WWE. The WWE announced her release on March 22, 2007, giving the usual line about how they wish her “all the best in all future endeavors.”

Rebecca finally addressed the terms of the release on her official site yesterday. In addition to saying that she was grateful for the support of her fans, the following statement was posted:

Rebecca also confirmed that She did ask to be Released from the World Wrestling Entertainment. The WWE we’re extremely understanding about it, and said she was alway’s Welcome Back in the Future. (sic)

It is unclear whether Rebecca left the WWE due to some sort of personal problems or in order to pursue other career avenues. We’ll keep you updated on Rebecca DiPietro’s future career moves in the ECW Alumni section of the blog.
