Rob Van Dam Uncensored on RVD TV

Posted in ECW Alumni on September 20th, 2007

RVD (Rob Van Dam)For those who have been waiting to find out what Rob Van Dam is up to, he has finally revealed his new project: RVD TV. As Rob describes it on his blog, RVD TV is “an episodic website program that invites you into my real life. The purpose? To show the other 95 percent of me that you don’t see watching me wrestle.”

RVD seems genuinely excited about this new project, which is basically a video podcast with decent production quality. He sees it as his opportunity to motivate, inspire, and be a positive role model. Undoubtedly, RVD TV will supply us with an endless supply of Rob’s deep insights into human biology and medicine.

Here’s a description of RVD TV from RVD himself:

This show contains the answers to everything I have been asked by you fans. What I’ve been doing? What are my plans? What are my workouts? What do I do in my spare time? Everything. A favorite repeating segment, that really needs to be seen, is what I call “Friends in High Places.” Here I talk to friends in the entertainment industry about thought-provoking issues like language censorship, violence in entertainment, marijuana prohibition, gun control, relationships, religion and other deep issues.

Check out Rob’s Web site to see a brief RVD TV trailer.

Pro Wrestling Torch Pisses Off Shelly Martinez

Posted in ECW Alumni on September 13th, 2007

Shelly Martinez

It all started with an unsubstantiated rumor posted on the ad saturated Pro Wrestling Torch on Monday, and by late Tuesday, wrestling forums were abuzz with the news that Shelly Martinez was accepting bookings for personal wrestling sessions. Wade Keller, editor of the Torch, pointed readers to this page on a directory of “women who wrestle men” as proof that “The former Ariel, Shelly Martinez, is available for very special appearanes.” [sic]

Under the subject “Someones Gone Broke,” a contributor to the WrestlingFigs forum added the following:

It was reported yesterday that former ECW Diva Shelly “Ariel” Martinez is doing a gig where you can “wrestle” her for an undisclosed fee. This is indeed true. This is current because there are recent photos of her on the page including one from a WWE shoot this year.

Come on, people. The wb270 page linked to by PWTorch could have been written by anyone claiming to be Shelly Martinez and the photos uploaded to that site can be found in just about every corner of the Internet. The site owner even includes a disclaimer stating. “I make no representation about the accuracy of this list. It is not possible to verify the accuracy of all the information I receive via E-mail.”

So what’s the verdict on this Shelly news? Worst. Rumor. Ever.

Unsurprisingly, Shelly published the following denial in a bulletin sent to her MySpace friends:

No, it is NOT true, you CANNOT pay a fee to wrestle me. I am NOT taking ‘personal’ sessions. Just wanted to clear that up. I guess internet reports are saying this is true. I have gotten tons of emails reguarding the post and I wanted to go ON the record and clear that mess up.

A shortened version of that statement was posted to Shelly’s MySpace blog.

FHM Online Photos of ECW’s Kelly!

Kelly Kelly (Barbie Blank) in her FHM Online Extreme Expose photo shoot

Nine sexy new photos of Kelly Kelly (aka Barbie Blank) have been posted to FHM Online in a “Girls of FHM” gallery. This final installment in FHM Online’s exclusive Extreme Exposé photo series went live on Friday, September 7, 2007.

In the brief interview accompanying Kelly Kelly’s pics, WWE’s youngest diva describes how she’s bonded with her Extreme Exposé companions, Layla and Brooke, and shares a little too much information about their roadside bathroom breaks:

When we’re on the road, we’re driving like 500 miles and we have to go the bathroom. Well, some of us—like Brooke—like to go on the side of the road. I’ve done it too. Layla is always like, ‘What are you guys doing? This is disgusting!’ We’re like, ‘We got to go!’

But of course, we’ve already seen how Barbie Blank likes to take her bathroom breaks.

She also talks about her time in ECW, her experience getting caned by The Sandman, and having her body painted for the 2006 Independence Day ECW show.

Just in case you missed one of the FHM Online Extreme Exposé features, here are the links to all three:

Sci-Fi Starlet Saturday: Kristanna Loken

Posted in Also on Sci-Fi, Women of Sci-Fi on September 8th, 2007

Kristanna Loken

I’m beginning to see a pattern among our weekly sci-fi starlets, and today’s selection, Kristanna Loken, is no exception. Like many of our other picks, Kristanna Loken is a former supermodel who has taken the sci-fi cinema scene by storm.

These days Kristanna Loken is best known for her work in the title role on the new Sci-Fi Channel series Painkiller Jane, but she’s no stranger to sci-fi. She got her start in acting making brief appearances on shows like Lois & Clark, Sliders, and Star Trek Voyager.

In 2003, Kristanna premiered in her breakout role as the assassin T-X in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Other notable roles include Rayne in BloodRayne and Brunnhild in Ring of the Nibelungs.

Kristanna’s other claim to fame is outing her BloodRayne costar Michelle Rodriguez with whom she had a romantic relationship. Kristanna has spoken openly about her bisexuality to the press, while Michelle had not.

Kristanna Loken has been featured on Maxim’s Hot 100 twice, and has also been listed as one of Ask Men’s 99 and FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006. And, because I know you’re wondering, yes, Kristanna Loken has appeared unclothed on film, and yes, you can find grainy screenshots of her topless in BloodRayne, Ring of the Nibelungs, and T3 if you do a Google image search for Kristanna Loken topless or Kristanna Loken nude.

Rob Van Dam and His Water Bottle: Separated at Birth?

Posted in ECW Alumni, W.W.E. on September 6th, 2007

Rob Van Dam and his water bottle: victims of air pressure?

Rob Van Dam’s brain and his water bottle share some key biological similarities that may help explain why so many wrestlers die young. At least, that was his implication in a September 5, 2007 interview with Joe McDonnell. After pointing out how much time wrestlers spend in airplanes, RVD offered these deep insights into human biology:

How safe is it to spend that much time up in the air? Because I know pilots, they can only be up in the air for what, 24 hours, they gotta have 24 off or whatever the deal is - they can only be in the air for so long, and when I fly, I have a bottle of water, I watch the air pressure leave my bottle of water, I watch that thing just crinkle up and I wonder, I always wonder, is that what my brain’s doing?

Because nobody ever told wrestlers that it’s not safe to fly everyday. They don’t care about us, they fly us every single day for like 12, 13 days in a row, maybe a day off, you know, and then fly again. And sometimes it’s 6 hour flights, sometimes it’s 2, sometimes it’s 17 hours to Australia. I always wondered, you know, how safe that is and what that does to us and it would be interesting to draw a connection between flying and taking that air pressure abuse to the brain while you have a job where getting hit in the head is part of your job. It could be a combination of it.

We often get together and talk about, “Hey, how come wrestlers die so young?” Well, why does it happen? You know, there’s gotta be a reason for it. You draw all the commonalities between pro wrestlers that other athletes don’t have, you’re gonna have to include all the air time.

It goes with out saying that Rob Van Dam also used the interview to come out in support of marijuana (again.) You can listen to the whole thing online.
