A Kelly Kelly Retrospective in Honor of her Divas Halloween Battle Royal Victory

ECW’s Kelly Kelly Victorious in 2007 Divas Halloween Battle Royal

Kelly Kelly claimed her first real on-air, in-ring victory on Monday Night Raw this week when she won the Divas Halloween Battle Royal. Wearing the gangster costume that helped her garner second place in the Cyber Sunday costume contest, Kelly Kelly defeated Layla, Brooke, Jillian, Maria, Michelle McCool, Mickie James, Melina, Victoria, and Torrie Wilson.

Unfortunately Kelly’s victory celebration was cut short when Beth Phoenix, the Glamazon, crushed her to the mat, but we won’t dwell on that.

To celebrate an ECW diva’s victory in the 2007 Halloween Battle Royal, here are a dozen of our favorite Kelly Kelly posts on the ECW on Sci-Fi blog:

ECW Divas Kelly, Brooke, and Layla at the Cyber Sunday Halloween Costume Contest

ECW Divas Layla, Kelly, and Brooke participated in the Cyber Sunday Divas Halloween Contest yesterday. According to WWE.com, Kelly Kelly dressed up as a gangster, although judging by the photos, I think they meant pimp. Layla dressed up in a “bad cop” uniform (read: stripper cop costume) and Brooke strutted her stuff in a jungle girl ensemble. More pics are posted on WWE.com.

The ladies of ECW competed against several other WWE divas, including Maria as a pussycat, Victoria as a Sumo wrestler, Mickie James as an Indian princess, Torrie Wilson as a Washington Redskins football player, Michelle McCool as Eve from the Garden of Eden, Jillian Hall as Britney Spears, and Melina as a Las Vegas showgirl. Mickie James claimed top spot in the contest, garnering 21% of the votes. ECW diva Kelly Kelly wasn’t far behind with 17%, and Torrie rounded out the top three with 15%.

Brooke Adams landed in the bottom three after receiving 4% of votes, but I think she deserved better than that. What do you think?

Divas from Raw, ECW, and Smackdown will compete live tonight on Monday Night Raw in a Divas Halloween Battle Royal. Here’s hoping they actually let the women show what they’re made of in the ring tonight!

Sci-Fi Starlet Saturday: Cerina Vincent

Posted in Women of Sci-Fi on October 27th, 2007

Cerina Vincent

Halloween is just a few short days away, so we wanted this week’s Saturday Starlet post to focus on a horror vixen who’s also worked in sci-fi - Cerina Vincent fits the bill perfectly. The 28-year-old Las Vegas native is probably best known for her role as Maya the Yellow Ranger from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, but she’s performed in a fair number of indy and mainstream horror roles.

You can catch some of Cerina Vincent’s most recent work in the direct to DVD sequel Return to House on Haunted Hill. Her other horror films include 7 Mummies, It Waits, Intermedio with Edward Furlong and Amber Benson, and Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever.

If you’re a true horror fan, you’ll also want to catch Cerina Vincent in Murder-Set-Pieces, hailed as the most graphic and disturbing horror film of all time and called “a voyeuristic nightmare of blood, sex and brutality.”

Of course, Cerina Vincent has done the requisite Sci-Fi Channel original movie: Sasquatch Mountain with Lance Henriksen.

And some of her most memorable work was in Not Another Teen Movie as the perpetually naked foreign exchange student Areola. You can find digital stills of her topless in that film by doing a Google Image Search for “Not Another Teen Movie” and Areola.

Cerina Vincent sets herself apart from all of our other Saturday Sci-Fi Starlets in one important way: she’s a published author. Her first book, How to Eat Like a Hot Chick, is available in hardcover and will be out in paperback this December.

Listen to Kelly Kelly on WFAN Sports Radio 66 Tuesday

New Kelly Kelly (Barbie Blank) studio picCheck out WFAN Sports Radio 66 this Tuesday at noon EST to hear ECW’s resident exhibitionist, Kelly Kelly (aka Barbie Blank). Here’s the info from WWE.com:

Hey, Kelly Kelly fans – tune in to SportsRadio 66 WFAN on Tuesday to hear the ECW Diva during the noon ET hour with Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts. Word is Benigno is a little enamored with the ECW beauty, and Roberts is a huge WWE fan.

The show can also be heard on the radio station’s Web site at www.wfan.com.

In other Kelly Kelly news, WWE.com highlighted another set of her studio pics on the front page this week. This photo in the black tube dress is one of them - she’s a little too covered up for an exhibitionist, don’t ya think?

I think most people prefer their Barbie Blank photos to be more like this:

Old School Thursday: The Eliminators vs. Sabu and Mikey Whipwreck

Posted in ECW Alumni, The Show on October 25th, 2007

A classic match between four of the best wrestlers in the old ECW from Heatwave ‘96. Compare this to the new ECW’s matches and you’ll see that it isn’t just athleticism (which performers like John Morrison and C.M. Punk have in spades) which made ECW special but there’s an intimacy between the performers and the audience that the WWE brand can never reproduce. There’s several botched moves in the match, and the crowd loves it. Part 1:

Part 2:

John Kronus passed away July 18th of complications after surgery due to enlarged heart, an irony not lost on those who knew him as a big hearted man who was loved by everyone who knew him. He’ll be missed.

Perry Saturn is retired after suffering severe injuries stopping a rape. The man’s a hero.

Mikey Whipwreck runs a wrestling school called New York Wrestling Connection which puts on shows where ECW alumni such as Raven and Jerry Lynn sometimes perform.

Sabu has recently been seen wrestling in Mexico and Australia.
