Escort Scandal Be Damned: WWE Still Loves Ashley Massaro

Posted in W.W.E., WWE divas on May 7th, 2008

Ashley Massaro - May 7, 2008 WWE Daily Diva

Despite Rolling Stone’s allegations that Ashley Massaro worked as a call girl for a pricey escort service, WWE management continues to offer the Dirty Diva a wealth of unspoken but undeniable support. This week, she was a visible presence at ringside during Monday’s live Raw show, and today, Ashley Massaro was featured as the Daily Diva (see above) on WWE.com.

While Ashley has denied the information presented in the Rolling Stone article, there has been no official statement from WWE management. Following her initial denial on her MySpace blog, Ashley has been surprisingly quiet on the issue. She posted a second blog entry, writing, “Damn…all I can say is wow. Youys are mega supportive and I friggin love you for it. I consider everyone of you a friend and appreciate every last single message and believe me i’ve read them all you guys ROCK!!!!! HARD!!!!!”

Although some wrestling fans have suggested that Ashley’s silence is suggestive of guilt, I think it’s more likely that that WWE folks have counseled Ashley to zip it. Vince and company don’t want more bad press for the WWE, and I’m sure they’re hoping that the scandal will fade into the background if everyone stays tight lipped. The question is, will the media leave this one alone?

The ECW 100th Episode “Special”

Posted in The Show on May 7th, 2008

Kelly Kelly (Barbie Blank) on the 100th episode of ECW on Sci-FiI guess since this is the “ECW on Sci-Fi Blog” I kind of have to mention that yesterday was the 100th episode of ECW on Sci-Fi. The show was supposed to be some sort of celebratory special, but as expected, it was simply another lackluster episode peppered with flashbacks of “memorable moments” from the “Land of Extreme.”

Am I really expected to fondly remember the ECW zombie?

And while I’m sure there are plenty of fans who long for Kelly Kelly to bring back her Extreme Exposé, chances are what they really miss is exhibitionist Kelly, not Kelly wearing more clothes in the ring than ever before. A long sleeved jacket? Really?

ECW on Sci-Fi drew a stunningly pathetic 1.08 rating on Tuesday. The upshot? It won’t take much for TNA iMPACT! to kick ECW’s sorry ass in ratings this week. Stay tuned.

The Blue Meanie & Balls Mahoney are Class Acts

Posted in ECW Alumni, Indy Wrestling Scene on May 4th, 2008

I know our readers mostly prefer to check out diva cleavage and nip slips, but once in a while we like to give props to the good guys in the wrestling business. Brian Heffron (The Blue Meanie) and Jonathan Rechner (Balls Mahoney) are two of those guys.

ECW / WWE alum The Blue Meanie received the terrible news last week that his close friend Chris Poulos, aka Kriss Vicious, passed away suddenly on April 26th. Chris was a constant fixture in the Philly wrestling scene for years and leaves behind a teen daughter named Christina. You can send your condolences to Meanie via his MySpace profile.

The Blue Meanie and his girlfriend Tracy went all out in putting together a big benefit show to help out Chris’ family. The Blue Meanie made a gig flyer that he promoted the hell out of, and Tracy made armbands to sell at the benefit.

Even if you didn’t make it to the benfit, donations are still being accepted at:

The Christina Poulos Fund

Havertown, PA 19083

The Blue Meanie is a truly classy guy for all he’s done to honor his friend and help out Chris Poulos’ daughter. Everyone who knew and loved Chris Poulos has our deepest sympathy.

Another class act is Balls Mahoney, the ECW original who was recently released by WWE. Balls filled in for The Blue Meanie at the NWS show in Edison, NJ on May 2nd on what must have been very short notice, enabling The Blue Meanie to attend the benefit for his friend.

Sucks to Be Ashley Massaro Today: $25,000/night Escort or Mistaken Identity?

Posted in WWE divas on May 3rd, 2008

Ashley Massaro, WWE diva and Playboy modelWWE diva and Playboy covergirl Ashley Massaro is a fan favorite around here, so we by no means want to jump the gun in spreading nasty rumors about her. However, it bears mentioning that the self-proclaimed Dirty Diva is on the hot seat today as reports surface of her alleged involvement with a pricey Los Angeles escort service.

A recent FBI investigation turned up emails linking Ashley Massaro and other female celebs to a high-end call girl ring, according to an article in the May 15, 2008 issue of Rolling Stone. The email messages allegedly contain travel arrangements for Massaro made by the ring leader, a woman named Michelle Braun who also goes by “Nici.”

The article also fingers other celebrity women, including Playboy and Maxim models and adult film stars, who pulled in up to $25,000 a night for their service to famous athletes, TV stars, and Fortune 500 CEOs. Among those named are Playboy models Tishara Cousino and Tina Jordan, adult star Krystal Steal, and Penthouse Pet Lanny Barby.

The Rolling Stone article not only names Ashley Massaro as one of Braun’s escorts, but includes a photo of her as well (check page 52.)

Braun claims that she merely facilitated introductions between her escorts and wealthy men, offering them a chance for companionship and nothing more. The Rolling Stone piece alleges that Ashley Massaro was one such “companion,” but gives no concrete evidence that her work was of a sexual nature.

Ashley denied the allegations in a brief post on her MySpace blog this afternoon:

False False False

Just got buzzed on some BS that is going around. Dont believe it for a second.
Getting in touch with my lawyer as we speak.
No post song because I’m beyond upset.

As Ashley’s fans rally around her with supportive MySpace comments and advice, the story continues to unfold. RedHotDivas has a partial scan of the Rolling Stone article. TMZ is awaiting comment from the WWE, and Dave Meltzer has proposed a plausible explanation: Rolling Stone may have mistaken a Las Vegas bikini model with the same name for Raw diva Ashley Massaro.

Ouch … if that’s true and Rolling Stone really dropped the ball on doing their homework, Ashley Massaro won’t need to work escort gigs to fund a lavish lifestyle for the rest of her years. Rolling Stone will be footing the bill.

Update, 5/5/2008: A ProWrestling.net reader dug up an archived copy of a profile page for Ashley Massaro that appeared on the site of the alleged escort service, Bella Models.   The profile is for an Ashley Massaro located in New York City.  Unfortunately, the accompanying photographs were not archived, so while this new information doesn’t necessarily implicate Ashley Massaro, it also fails to exonerate her.   Although WWE management have declined to comment on the Rolling Stone article, pwinsider.com says the author of the article is standing by her story.  (Warning: visit pwinsider.com at your own risk if you have a slow computer without a good popup blocker.)

Sci-Fi Starlet Saturday: Catherine Bell

Posted in Women of Sci-Fi on May 3rd, 2008

Catherine Bell in FHM, 2000

Catherine Bell is probably best known for her lengthy stint on the television series JAG, but science fiction fans will recognize her from her starring roles in the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series The Triangle and the time travel disaster flick Thrill Seekers (originally released as The Time Shifters). Catherine Bell also appeared in three episodes of the short-lived alien series Threshold, as well as Alien Nation: Body and Soul.

Like many of our previous sci-fi starlets, Catherine Bell got her start in modeling. Her first movie role was as a body double for Isabella Rossellini in Death Becomes Her. Yes, there was partial nudity involved.

Although her most recent role in the Lifetime television series Army Wives is decidedly not aimed at sci-fi fans, Catherine Bell continues to have a significant following (if Web forums are any indication.)

Catherine Bell

In 2003, a Stuff Magazine interviewer asked Catherine about her experience with Hollywood bad boys hitting on her. She responded with this particularly nasty example of an interaction with one of these “bad boys”:

I told him that I was on a diet—five ounces of protein and a cup of vegetables [per meal]. He leaned over and whispered in my ear, “I’ll give you five ounces of protein.”

Yuck. At least Stuff has the good Catherine Bell pics, like this one:
