Does bashing Lauer’s Doomsday special ever get old?
No. No it doesn’t.
Especially when one of its “experts” is taken to task in an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal for not having a grasp of the science of his chosen field.
Especially when it goes on to accuse this “expert” of, in the absence of supporting facts, trying to convince viewers that his position is correct by falsely claiming that most scientists agree with him.
Especially when the above expert is former Vice-President Al “I hate Slayer” Gore!
Gore’s ass is handed to him here.
Of course his statements had been refuted before Countdown to Doomsday even aired by the same guy.
Why does this matter? Because while Matt Lauer was willing to argue with an insane person over the effectiveness of drugs for treating depression, he glibly accepted an already disproved claim that there was a “consensus” on global warming. At least the drug argument is semi-plausible, or at least my buddy Tom says it is.
