“Hardcore Schoolgirl” Tara Bush and the Worst Chair Shot Ever

Posted in Indy Wrestling Scene, Women's Extreme Wrestling on September 15th, 2009

I found this old video of EOS favorite Tara Bush in her W.E.W. days playing valet in a match that pitted Prime Time Amy Lee against Sumie Sakai. Watch for around :40 when Bush doesn’t so much hit Amy Le with a steel chair as pat her on the back with it in a congratulatory manner. Lee isn’t amused.

Gotta love that Tara.Have I mentioned she has a modeling website

Balls Mahoney: He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?

Posted in ECW Alumni, Indy Wrestling Scene on March 1st, 2009

Balls MahoneyThe New York Times ran a profile on ECW alum Balls Mahoney in the New York edition of the paper today, comparing him to Mickey Rourke’s character in The Wrestler. Unfortunately, the Times, desperately clinging to its dwindling status as a respectable “paper of record,” refused to publish the name “Balls Mahoney,” calling it “a name that cannot be printed in this newspaper.”

The New York Times happily published the term “man boobs” in an article about guys with, shall we say, voluptuous pectoral areas, but they won’t print the word Balls?

The Times didn’t shy away from reviewing the films Mod Fuck Explosion, If It Ain’t Stiff, It Ain’t Worth a Fuck, and of course, Shit and Chicks.  Really family-friendly titles, don’t ya think?

And yet, the Times won’t publish the name Balls?  I’m surprised they write about Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

The article by Bill Finley, “Faded Glory on the Wrestling Circuit,” offers this summary of Mahoney’s career:

He was with the World Wrestling Federation for two years, through 1996, and since then has bounced back and forth between the minor wrestling organizations that make up the independent circuit, with a few stops in between with better-known groups like Extreme Championship Wrestling. Lately, most of his work has been with National Wrestling Superstars. He would not say how much he is paid for an appearance, but he is considered among the bigger names on the independent circuit.

Oh, right, since 1996 he’s just been an indy wrestler.  It’s not like Balls Mahoney had a WWE contract or anything.

If this is what passes for sports writing at the New York Times, it’s no wonder the company’s stock dipped below the price of a Sunday paper in February.

Is the Former ECW Arena Closing Its Doors to Wrestling Promotions?

Posted in Indy Wrestling Scene on January 25th, 2009

ECW Arena sign

Has the New Alhambra Arena, formerly known as the ECW Arena, seen its last wrestling match? Is the building returning to its bingo hall roots?

In a word, no.

Despite way-off-base rumors spread by Philly.com, the New Alhambra Arena won’t be shutting out that part of its history any time soon. The historic wrestling venue is getting a name change (to The Arena) and the facility will expand and return to the wrestling roots that put it on the map.

Rumors to the contrary were put to rest by owner Roger Artigiani in a correction submitted to PWBTS:

Yesterday, a story began circulating that there would no longer be professional boxing, wrestling, or other events at the New Alhambra Arena (former ECW Arena). There is NO truth whatsoever to this story.

A new boxing promotion is working at the building and had a successful debut show this past Friday night. Professional wrestling and other events (martial arts, concerts, private parties, etc.) WILL CONTINUE to be held in the building. The only thing that will probably be changing at some point is the name of the Arena & the fact that the facility will be going back more to its wrestling roots.

An announcement about the grand opening of the renovated facility will be made in the coming weeks, according to the New Alhambra web site.

Tara Bush showing off her feet

We haven’t updated you lately on indy wrestler and ECW fantasy draft pick Tara Bush. Since we interviewed Tara in February, she’s been keeping busy with wrestling and fetish modeling. Here she is in a shot taken for the female wrestling site SleeperKidsWorld.com:
