Andrew “Test” Martin in his mugshot being booked for DUI
(Apologies to Andrew Martin, but I can’t resist a good celebrity mugshot.)

Former WWE / ECW superstar Andrew “Test” Martin was arrested in Florida Sunday morning shortly after 10:30 a.m on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Martin was pulled over after an off duty cop observed him driving recklessly on northbound Interstate 75.

Apparently Andrew Martin displayed many of the classic signs of a chemically-altered state: he was shaky and unsteady on his feet, and exhibited slurred speech and bloodshot and glassy eyes. Martin did not smell of alcohol, but failed a field sobriety test administered by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper. He refused to take a urine test (it probably brought back bad memories of his failed WWE Wellness Test) and was booked at Land O’ Lakes Jail. According to the police report, Martin kept falling asleep in the back of the police vehicle on the way to the jail.

The official charge report is available on the web site of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

For those of you who don’t remember, Andrew Martin was released from his WWE contract on February 27, 2007. It was widely speculated that his release was related to either his involvement a car crash or his failure of the WWE Wellness Test. However, his MySpace page indicated that he had requested the release following growing dissatisfaction with the direction of the new ECW and WWE politics.

After showing up briefly in TNA after his WWE release, Martin stopped appearing on TV. During the past year, he spent a lot of time recovering from health problems, but has continued wrestling in the indies occasionally. He had recently expressed an interest in becoming a personal trainer.

Martin was released from the Florida jail on Sunday night after posting $500 bail. No word yet on the reaction of girlfriend Barbie Blank. Do you think there’s any chance she’ll blog about this?
