I genuinely feel bad for today’s young wrestling fans. Long forgotten are the days when kids could gather in the schoolyard to debate whether or not wrestling was “real.” And now, the final nail has been hammered into the kayfabe coffin. Not even school kids can suspend disbelief enough to buy the latest ratings bonanza - the death of Vince McMahon.

So what can we expect from Vince’s latest stunt?

In addition to a temporary ratings boost on all three brands, look for televised face time with Stephanie and possibly Linda McMahon in upcoming weeks, as well as the obligatory whodunit mystery to drag out Dallas-style. While there are too many possible villains to list, my choice would be Ashley Massaro. Could Vince’s indefinite suspension of Ashley following have finally pushed our favorite babyface heel diva over the edge?

While this is an obvious attempt to boost ratings and bring departing viewers back into the WWE fold, I have to admit I’m a sucker for this kind of storyline and Vince has me hooked. Let’s just hope that Vince’s “death” doesn’t undo the results of the draft - ECW needs someone like Chris Benoit and it’ll be fun to see him back in ECW.
